press control alt delete and terminate all instances of it running in the background, then try again.
If that doesn't work, delete all cookies, internet history, etc, within firefox itself, then reboot. If that doesn't work you can reinstall it. backup your bookmarks just in case. but usually all your settings will remain. |

Missmay,
does firefox open after you reboot your computer? or does it never open even after you reboot your computer? 1. If it does open after rebooting your computer, does it hang after a while? That could be a problem with your internet connectivity. there are known problems with Vista and internet connections. 2. If it does not open even after rebooting your computer, you might want to reinstall firefox. Either way let me know if your situation is 1 or 2 above or none of the above. |

What's weird is I had this same problem yesterday. Firefox would only open ONCE after a reboot, but if I closed it, I lost my browser until the next reboot. I tried all of the above but nothing worked, so I just formatted my HD and now it's all perfect again.

Perhaps your shortcut is corrupted. Delete it and then go to where Firefox is installed and click on the exe icon there. If it opens, then just create a shortcut from that file.

You've probably figured out the problem now, but if not go to start menu and find the folder mozilla firefox. Click on firefox (safe mode). If you recently installed a firefox extension, you might want to disable it. Also you might have to create a new profile or reinstall firefox.

If absolutely nothing works, you can try getting the freeware program called Revo Uninstaller and doing a thorough uninstall of Firefox and then reinstalling the latest version fresh. Just be aware you will lose absolutely everything you've done in Firefox. All your bookmarks, add-ons, settings, etc. I guess I should say (again) this should be as a last resort.
Then again, simply downloading the latest version and installing it may do the trick. And you'll keep all your bookmarks and stuff. This is why it's good to have those add-ons that allow you to save all your Firefox settings and stuff on an external drive. |
