when you say logging out, do you mean that it shuts off right away after 10 minutes or do you get a logging out now type screen? And does it do this while you're using it or when you're away from computer for 10 minutes? Could it be a screensaver with login screen option?

I don't think it's an overheating issue, because it's a brand new computer and I haven't noticed it being particularly hot lately, but I don't know. It doesn't do it all the time, only when I haven't moved the mouse or anything for 10 minutes; it seems to be an automatic logout that somehow became active.

The thing is, I do want my computer to log out when I close the lid, so that no one can come in and go through my files, but I don't want it to automatically log itself out when I'm trying to watch a movie or something. This is seriously annoying. Thanks for trying to help, guys. Edit: No, the screen savers aren't the problem... it's still logging out. |

I searched on google, and heres something that came up:
"Check your screensaver. It may be set to turn on after 10 minutes of inactivity and when you come back it will ask for your login. If it is your screensaver, uncheck the box that says On resume, display logon screen." ps: i dont have vista so im not sure about it. |

Yeah, I finally fixed it. This is apparently a pretty common problem with Vista, because I just found a forum topic on this same issue with several other people complaining about it.
I had to reset my "personalization" settings so that the screen wouldn't come up. It really makes no sense, because I've never used a screen saver (I hate them), but that was the problem. |
