Whats wrong with how youtube works. Sure there are some incredibly rude people and some very ugly things but hey suck it up snowflake that's life and i sure as hell don't need some moderator try to protect my a** from reality. The beauty of it is that you can have a conversation with somebody about anything and the conversation will always come to it's natural conclusion. IT'S FRIGGEN REAL, people aren't altering there behaviour to avoid censorship. I think it's ironic that moderators are put in place to make these sites safe and secure environments but the moderators themselves are what cause the most concern for people. Anyways i had some other things to say but i don't know how to say them without getting this post deleted...go figure (or maybe i've already crossed that line, i'm not really sure ).

Make your own forum then?
I like the 'flow' of this website and its chill atmosphere. |

About the only thing that comes to mind with answering your question is this. We as people who suffer from SA often times tend to think very negatively and by making us not be crude or vulgar (both of which are negative) it forces us to look at we wrote and not be so negative. Think of it as positive thinking training.
But if you really want to have access to an uncensored forum then look into making your own. Then link to it from here so that when anyone us feels like cursing swearing and being down right vulgar we can just flip on over swear till we're blue in the faces and then we'll all be happy. Or you could just ask the administrator to maybe setup a specific section where we can be vulgar and setup a disclaimer stating that by entering here there's gonna be some seriously foul language. If you're feeling overly sensitive today don't come in here. That kind of deal. |

Try everything?? This site is far from being a democracy. But if the forum weren't censored, there is no way I would be here. Whereas, those who dislike censorship are able to put up with it. So I do think this way is much more sensible. And as others suggested, there are other sites that don't have this degree of censorship. Social Phobia World is the first one I thought of too. |

I read a usenet support group for a long time, like 10 years. It was totally uncensored, but it could get pretty nasty. There is both a positive and a negative to that stuff. I personally favor a lot less restrictions than this site has, but not all-out anarchy. Still, I like SAS. Obviously, since I keep coming here.

Everything being censored? For what reason, the sponsors and advertisers? lol Whoever operates this site might be taking it way too seriously!

If this was about filth and vulgarity you wouldn't hear a peep from me. I hate that stuff. Unfortunately the extent of the censorship on these sites goes FAR beyond that. Also this was not meant as a slam to this particular forum. The majority of my involvement has been with the other social anxiety sites.
Thank you for the socialphobiaworld link i didn't know about it. As far as starting my own site i have neither the time nor the inclination. Just looking for an alternative. < |

My only problem with mods is when the moderators are stupid and ban the wrong person (the victim) instead of the troll.

I take the opposite view than most I think banning the "filthy" stuff is ridiculous, but that's a whole nother argument about why shoud mere words insult and offend people.
Definately think we do need mods that will ban agenda pushing and regulate certain arguments into their appropriate threads. Only because I think as people with SA we are a sensitive lot and need to keep the perspective that this is a self help site first and foremost. |
