Unhappy SA Is Keeping Me From Getting Fit

There is this perfect route from my house to a track that I use to walk to and from for exercise that is a half a mile long and has lots of hills. The problem is that this route is a road where people can pass or come towards me and see me walking. They stare at me all the time and then I go into panic attack mode. The track is also a road as well so you have people walking or running behind you, and cars passing you. Sometimes it gets so bad for me that not even a quarter of a way, I turn back and go home.

Yesterday I got all of these fruits and vegetables planning on dieting and walking that route everyday, and I ate a reasonable amount of them for breakfast and lunch, and walked the route this morning. But the second walk I took made me realize the this is impossible. Guess I won't be losing these 30 lbs after all...

I had the same problem, then experimented with some different times...Sunday evenings and before 6:30am weekdays, the place was virtually empty.

yeah going for walks and and runs outside in the fresh air in nature can be difficult, not only because of the other people, but in australia I also have to compete with magpie birds trying to swoop at my head whenever I need to walk anywhere. :S

OMG I have the same problem haha. I'm big into bike/swim/run I hate training in groups so I go out alone mostly. Going out at times you know will be less crowded (prolly already figured that out), wear hat, music, sunglass, cellphone pretty much things that can make to you switch into (im busy or focused mode). I live in cali there are roadies everywhere a lot are pretty introverted you can tell BUT I hate passing groups so awkward; sometimes i'll turn a corner or just slow down and b a newb.

Also Going at night if you know a track that isn't crowded and lit it's great plus you wont be overstimulated as much since there is less light/nightime. I find going really early in the morning there is less pressure to be socially aware; People are more aloof etc.

I hoped that helped
