Default Start Medication and Judo

I've been meeting resistance from my mom on both things but I'm going to keep pushing. I know I have my dad's support on both and I think I can make both happen.

Good luck Catching Fire I had thought of taking Judo. My college has classes, but the schedule wasn't good for me

I used to do Judo a few years back. Been into martial arts for years but haven't trained for sometime, when i do eventually get back into it one of the two clubs will be a Judo club most likely.

Yay! Good for you - martial arts are awsome for meeting people, confidence and physical fitness. It is possible to get injured, but take care, and the benefits far outweigh the risks, IMO.

I think thats part of it. The real reason I think is she holds a grudge against me for not getting my black belt in tae Kwon Do. Its not my fault though she would just never take me. And if I complained about that she would scream at me. So I didn't have enough classes to get the black belt when the contract expired. If we renewed it we would be paying for monthes I would be away at college. The place wasn't cheap either.

I think it was 150 a month. I also put my footdown about not renewing it when I found out the blackbelt would cost us 750 bucks which is ridiculous. I already hated the place and thought it was a skam and that just put me over the top. They just hand out the belts for money there too and there is no way they would fail you after you pay them almost a grand.

And I wanted to quit for two years but was going along with my mom's you can leave after you get your black belt thing. So because I finally put my foot down and stoped going there she holds a huge grudge against me and won't let me start judo. Although I'm going to pay for all 3 monthes in the summer and drive myself because I should have license this Tuesday. Then after the summer I'm going to go to the judo club at my college. The other ridiculous part is when they told us it was 750 my mom was really worried about money. And was thinking about forcing my sister to go to public school. 750 would be about a fifth of the tuiton for the school. So it just boggles my mind why should pay that much for a belt that doesn't mean anything and let me leave.

*end rant*

$750 for 3 months? Is that right?

That makes it about £375 for 3 months which would work out to about £30 a week which is remarkable. Over here at most you'd be paying about £10 a week in fees ($20) and even that's excessive really. Most clubs charge about £5. Why on earth is this instructor charging £30 a week?

Actually the 750 was just the black belt testing fee! We would of still of had to pay the monthly fee on top of that too. It was such a rip off. I hated it, a normal sport would of gotten me in better shape, I certainly didn't learn to fight, and no one would ever take me. So paying for all of it would just be a huge waste of money. And for why they can charge so much over here I'm not sure. Because over here its not unusual for martial arts places to charge upwards of 100 dollars.

What is the monthly fee? Judo would get you in good shape if you really work at it and will teach you some useful self defence grappling. Could you not have walked it?

Judo will cost me 250 for 3 monthes and I have more then enough money thanks to graduation. I'm defiently set on doing Judo and if I get my license Tuesday a think I'm pretty set to get my mom's approval. Also I couldn't of walked to the Tae Kwon Do place it would of taken me like half an hour or an hour to walk there. I've also been trying to do Judo for about two years so I'm pretty set on doing it lol.

Then go for it. £10 a week is still a little steep but i've come across worse.

You could always your your Tae Kwon-Do blackbelt later and take it at another school if another school accepts your transfer with your current belt level. You shouldn't have to pay $750 in blackbelt testing fee. That's simply obscene. Something for your mom to consider I don't know how true it is in Tae-Kwon do, but compared to another Karate style like Shotokan or Goju Ryu, Tae-Kwon do is more fast in terms of advancement so you can work something with your mom. Plus you put all that work into it, why not go all the way?

Plus having a Tae Kwon-Do background with Judo would kick ***.
