Next Tuesday, I will have an job/interview for an internship/job I have been seeking for over a year now.

I need to set myself in a positive mindset for then (I tend to be very very negative and anxious in those situation) I had some bad experiences in job interviews in the past (i'm soo anxious I sometimes don't know how to answer questions that I know the answer).

You guys have any tricks to help prepare for those, and be in a positive and not too anxious mindset?

Hello all! Didn't know where to put this, but it's kinda positive, so....
I've heard the old "mental illness can affect anyone", and yeah it does seem to affect people from all walks, but who here thinks that intelligence is somehow linked to mental illness??? Perhaps people of high intelligence are more likely to experience one of many different disorders...
Their are many examples of the insane genius, but could it be that they are just better known because they were a genius with a problem.

earlier today i posted a thread about being happy then sad, and so on

Well i'm in a positive/happier mood right now so i thought i'd post a good thing. For some reason, today i left the house feeling really angry and didn't even know why, i didn't want to go to uni and didn't want to, i was gonna go shopping instead. But then i thought to myself "what could go wrong" and the answer was nothing and i was right, nothing bad happened. I know it might sound stupid but i get so worried about things going wrong while i'm there. I was doing letter press today and loved it, there was only 5 of us in there which i liked even more, i felt like i could talk to people (although i didn't talk much) more easily when there's less people. The teacher was really nice and seemed to like me. Apart from when he said he could see through my shirt :um lol but whatever, he was funny. And i found the more you do something the more you get used to it and it doesn't feel as bad. Not saying i feel great every time i'm in uni but after today i feel better. And i quite like being a student, we get stuff cheaper :boogie

Well, I'm thinking about what makes me sad and what doesn’t. I figure a lot of it has to do with not living the kind of life I want to and having it...

Well, I'm thinking about what makes me sad and what doesn’t. I figure a lot of it has to do with not living the kind of life I want to and having it suppressed by fears. I'm not really succumb by fears anymore and my views have somewhat changed of late. I guess all I'm trying to say is that life is something that needs to be lived fully, but if it can't be lived fully at least make your efforts to try.

(I don't know exactly where I'm going with this but w/e...)

Obviously, we only know what we know and so it's hard for someone to tell us that this or this will make us happy when we don't feel or understand it ourselves. I've been trying hard not to complain about life lately. I mean, why complain? Life is a gift and a blessing. However, an important emphasis I'd like to include is that life is even more so a blessing when we make things happen by our attitudes and our goals throughout life. We are always growing and learning and when we take an active effort to take it all in do we truly live to the fullest.

So yeah, keep up w/e it is your doing that is making you better in your mind. Learn what you need to learn, but try not to forget that your always learning and that by putting an effort towards your goals will you be living fully! Life is full of lessons that teach us many things and it's at its true beauty when we discover something in it worth appreciating, so don't stop doing what your doing. I just felt like typing that out I guess lol.

What positive sites, blogs, or vlogs do you visit often or at least know of?

Two specific ones that I enjoy are Happy News and Life With Confidence.

Happy News is exactly what it's name implies: positive news stories. While most news sites are full of gloom-and-doom with only a little positivity here or there, this site is completely positive stories. Another part of the site is devoted to how-to and improving habits. :)

And Life With Confidence contains a ton of articles about keeping a positive attitude, forming and keeping healthy habits, etc.

So, how about you? :)

My girlfriend and I have been together for a whole year now. And, yes, Halloween is our anniversary. If I wasn't broke, I would have gotten her a present, but I think I should save up for a good christmas present in lieu of, so far. It's been a while since I've posted on here, but I think it's because of making progress with SA. For example, I don't mind bus rides with people as much as I used to, even though I still keep to myself, if someone wants to talk, then I talk. /silly rant thing.

too long, didn't read version = Girlfriend and I have been together for a year, SA is lower and lower every day.

Funnily enough I found only two threads on this, from 2 and 3 years ago.

I'm making slight progress in my SA right now, but I am losing motivation. I'm losing patience and I see a slight depression coming on.
I'm trying to think positive, and I need a form of motivation to keep me going.

I have my desires, to be a certain way. I want to rid myself of the fear and loneliness. But I am having trouble pushing myself along. What do you do to kick yourself along?

As of now I am unemployed. I am struggling to stay busy and often end up laying in bed 'till the late afternoon. :um I had been searching for jobs, but haven't done much the last few weeks after being turned down so many times. Becoming very agoraphobic and reclusive. :afrI am attempting to make a realistic list of ways to stay busy for the time being because I know that it will make me feel better :).

1. Exercise (at least 15 min.)
2. Call at least 2 jobs (if available).
3. Practice flute 30-60 min. each day.
4. Clean room/play music at least 1 hour (or 1 album's length).
5. Check Ebay status/sales; Make at least 1 auction listing per day (max of 3 items up at a time.)

-The rest of the time is free. Read, draw, write, paint, sing, play piano, run, juggle, browse the web...

*Motivation/Reasons:

1. You will feel more tired and productive.
2. Your dad will see you trying.
3. You will start to look better and have more energy and less fat/more muscle. (Yes, just from moving.)
4. You will develop a routine/pattern. (Studies show that this makes people feel good. In place.)

*So; what do you do if you wake up and feel like ****?

-I am really not sure how to handle this... well conundrum so to speak. (I basically feel terrified to leave the bed and start the day of uncertainties and possible dilemmas.)
-I have thought of giving myself an hour to feel bad, like saying I have permission to feel that way.
-Meditation/yoga? Running? Playing music? Singing a song? Playing a favorite piece?

*I know that in order to get better and out of this depressive state I need to stay busy and develop some sort of pattern to life. :yes

***:noDoes anyone have any suggestions on ways to just get moving in the morning? Once I get going, everything feels so much more plausible. It's just the everlasting temptation to crawl back into the bed. This is a battle against the demonic entity depression seems to personify. ***Please tell me anything that helps you or that you do to motivate yourself in the mornings/ conquer the fear. :blank

Since I started seeing my therapist a couple of weeks ago I have taken her advice onboard and started focusing on other people rather than myself. Out of doing this I have noticed how often other people seem to smile when they greet you, whereas I would never smile at all. I would often get the natural inclination to smile but I would suppress it because I was self-concious about revealing any emotion.

However, I have begun to stop doing this and the and improvement in how people behave towards me is pretty marked. Just by smiling at someone they automatically become much more friendly and interested in you. It's amazing, I can't believe I never realised this before. I feel as if I've unlocked a big part of the secret of getting people to like you.:D
