The only time I consume caffine is with dinner (diet coke). However, I have recently been increasing meds per doctors order and am feeling more tired.

If I started to drink coffee on a regular basis to keep me up, would it worsen my anxiety and lessen the effects of the meds I'm taking?

Hi everybody, I recently started to withdraw from klonopin. I was taking 1 mg of klonopin for around 5 month. I have over a week that I have tapered down to 0.75 mg. However I have a problem. until november 24, I'm not going to be able to get my prescription, unless I decide to go to a psyciatric emergency room, which is my last option. Today, I took 0.25 for the whole day and so far haven't notice any bad withdrawal side effect. I have one pill left of 0.5 mg and I'm going to cut it into 1/4 and take one each day until the 24th. Will I suffer withdrawal side effects? Your help is appreciated.

Just thought I'd drop in and talk about my current experience of withdrawal from effexor. I was on 225mg for about two years and decided I wanted off due to side effects and lack of results. I tapered myself down to 75mg over a few months and then tried to drop to cold turkey. Well by the second day around lunch time, a feeling of impending death overcame me. It wasn't like a panic attack, but just as scary. I rushed home and popped an effexor and xanax and I felt 'normal' after a few hours. I decided it was time to go to a doctor and see what I can do. The doc gave me 37.5mg pills and I dropped down to that dosage for a month. This past Monday (4 days ago) I went cold turkey again. The withdrawal has been nothing short of the horror stories I'm sure many of you have already heard about all over the web. The brain 'zaps' and nausea are tolerable, and I can deal with lack of sleep, vivid dreams, and sweating (heck, I've been taking effexor and these are a few of the side effects that I experienced ON it). But the psychological effects have been tough. I haven't felt so out of control in my life. Little things will set me off and the anger scares me. Then, I'll be a crying mess later in the day. I've felt like giving up so much this week....like everything is overwhelming at work, and that I'll be alone forever. I'm exhausted and my outward appearance definitely shows it. If you're on this drug and want to get off, my heart goes out to you. Its one of the tougher things I've had to do in recent memory. Taking motion sickness pills helps the dizziness/brain shivers, and I'm taking saint Johns wort, a vitamin b complex, and a regular multivitamin. Sorry for any errors in this post, it was typed on a phone. Just felt like I needed to talk about my rough week! (and I'm at work, don't want to go on a forum from my work PC)

Hey, its been a while since i've been here but I went through some pretty intense depression the past few months.

I was remembering the other day how awesome RISPERDAL (respiridone) worked for me:

-I'd sit down and think "now how can I get what I want from this person?" And i'd calmly go through the ways I could get it.

-Compare to the old SA way of doing things, where I'd wonder if i could get it at all, worry some more, than finally just ask flat out or swallow my desire.

So what I'm wondering is has anyone else tried an antipsychotic for their SA and how did it work, presuming you were on it for a month or longer?? Takes a while to kick in.

I had a little talk with my father's friend who is a neurosurgeon / neurophysiologist. I told him that the psychiatrists tried every SSRI, SNRI, and TCA, some augmented with Wellbutrin or Remeron.

I'm currently on Xanax and it only provides me with a mild anxiety relief at doses as high as 8-9 mg (I haven't developed much tolerance yet, so the effect is very strong ~ almost knocking me out). He was absolutely shocked because of the huge dose I'm talking.

Anyway, I told him that no psychiatrists would prescribe me things such as amphetamine+xanax nor MAOIs. He said that amp+xanax maybe be very effective, but not as a long term treatment.

I could get MAOIs online without needing prescription. He said that MAOIs have a dangerous cardiovascular effects and he wouldn't recommend them.

What cardiovascular effects? I've never heard of such thing. Maybe the most dangerous effect of MAOI is the hypertensive crisis due to tyramine rich food.

What was he talking about?

A lot of people on here are curious about medications and have mixed experiences.

All I have to say is: topic.

Gabapentin has been nothing short of miraculous for me. My anxiety is about 99% eliminated. It took effect IMMEDIATELY.

It was originally created to help with epilepsy, but apparently it has excellent effects as a mood stabilizer. I can tell you first hand, I am not bull****ting you, that this true.

Guys, do yourself a favor and get on this med. It works. I have had SA for about 5 years and I haven't been better since I've gotten on it.

Talk to your psychiatrist as soon as possible.

I'm going to have to start taking medicine for my depression. Not really for my SA, as I have slowly learned to cope with that by myself since it wasn't that extreme to begin with.

I'm mainly starting meds because I cannot for the life of me, pull myself to go to school. I'm basically being pressured by everyone around me to take meds because no one believes my depression. But I read that it sometimes changes your personality? It's already enough that my depression has already altered my personality quite alot in the past 3 years.

So after trying with my general doc for a while, he finally told me he won't prescribe stimulants to anyone and that I should look elsewhere. I asked my old therapist, who seemed to think I have ADD for a referral, and she referred me to a nurse practitioner who was about 1,000 times more knowledgeable than my general doc. She was all for trying the adderall for social anxiety and possible ADD. I have to wait a day or so to get my script, because since it in a schedule II drug, it can only be written by a physician. Her physician homie is going to write the script and I have to pick it up in the next few days.

I am hoping for the best, as the lexapro and atenolol I am on isn't cutting it, nor did any of the other SSRIs or other meds I have tried. I am glad I didn't have to jump through a bunch of hoops with a psychiatrist to make it happen. I will update once I get my pills and give it a go.
