does anyone know of anywhere online, similar to S.A.S. where people meet and talk about the "why are we here", "what's the point of this/that/other" and "what's the meaning of it all" kind of questions?
my CBT therapist recommended looking into philosophy courses and that, but, it's currently the wrong time of year for how low my mood is, for this to help me NOW. i found a course which starts in january, but i'd like to join a comunity of like minded people searching for purpose, rather than just give up.
dunno if i'm making any sense, but if i do, and you know of somewhere, please let me know.
thank you!

Hey all, its time for another session, newbies weclome

all the details are here

http://www.meetup.com/Glasgows-freed...anxiety-group/

I'm exited to say that as I announce our next meet up it is three months since the group began. We have been a busy bunch since the last session: university, holidays, business trips! I hope everyone has been practicing the exercises, letting new ideas sink in and cement and that our new members *hello* are looking forward to getting started.

The next meet up will be about social confidence. It will also be a chance to review exercises, ask questions and a general follow up for those who have attended before as well as a learning opportunity for the newbies. A great thing about feedback within the group is that new perspectives can be gained by everyone, this strengthens the power of NLP.

So come along, bring a friend and feel good. See you there :)

Hi all,
Has anyone here actually been to a SAD support group? Its a great idea, but i just imagine a room full of people not speaking and watching the clock praying for the meeting to end (at least thats what i;d probably do) - strikes me as sad and funny at the same time...

Groups, meet and greets , etc, seem like a very tall order for most people in our situations. Havent been able to find any anyway...

But having never been to anything like this myself, i really don;t know what it'd be like. Sooo...has anyone ever met with other SAD people? And how was your experience?

Thanks
Redman

edit: also - are there any SAD chat rooms that anyone is aware of? that seems like it'd be a good place to start.

edit edit: nvm - i'm a little slow i guess....there chat on this board

Hi everyone, my name is Silvia Pikal, I'm a reporter for the Calgary Journal, and I am currently working on an article about social anxiety disorder. Not knowing anyone with social anxiety disorder, I did some research and came across this forum. The focus of my story is whether social anxiety is a serious, disruptive disorder, or if shyness is being pathologized by pharmaceutical companies. I would like to hear the side of someone who has the disorder, if you are willing to be interviewed please email me at spikal@cjnewdesk.ca
Thanks!

Halloween Party in DC
Friday, October 30, 2009 at 9:00PM

This is a joint Halloween Party with an international group in DC. I had a blast last year. Do not miss it. Sign up now as I need to do a head count. Here are some of the pictures from last year: http://pingpong.meetup.com/95/photos/473695/.

If you are uncomfortable being around with many new faces, try wearing a mask or something to cover your face. It's so appropriate for the occasion! We will gather and go together. I will post additional information as the date approaches. Happy Halloween!!!

I thiink in reading threads on this board, there are "12 Step" groups for people with SA.

While I very much respect & admire the work of Bill Wilson of Alcoholics Anonymous, I do not think his "12 Steps" are the answer to any and every question & the solution to any & every problem.

In fact, I think that the idea that the 12 steps can solve any problem, has turned into a fad & a cult, which I think is not what Bill Wilson ever intended.

On one of these threads on this board, I think I did find a reference to an SA Anonymous, but don't know if it is a 12 step group.

A fellow SA sufferer friend of mine talk on the phone & call ourselves "SA Anonymous," but we do not follow any 12 steps.
